Process Development Engineer/Associate

Purpose & Scope:

This is an intermediate experienced engineer/associate position that will play an important role in developing stable cell lines and robust cell culture processes to be used in clinical manufacturing. Experience will dictate the exact title.

The position will report to the Manager of Cell Line Development.

Essential Job Responsibilities: 

  • Develop stable cell lines
    • Host cell transfection with target plasmid
    • Minipool screening and single-cell cloning
    • Shake flask fed-batch studies to support stability studies and top clone selection
  • Develop robust cell culture processes
    • Shake flask fed batch studies to develop optimal basal/feed media
      • OFAT/DOE screening as necessary
    • Bioreactor process optimization
    • Scale-up process optimization (up to 200 L scale)
  • Technology transfer of processes to manufacturing site
    • Document preparation and person-in-plant (PIP) activities
  • Assist with developing/implementing new technologies to improve process efficiencies

 

Qualifications: 

  • BS in a related science or engineering discipline with a minimum of 3 years’ experience or MS with a minimum of 1-year relevant experience
  • Proficient in cell culture and aseptic techniques
  • Good problem solving, organization and collaborative skills are essential
  • Must be accountable and possess good communication skills (verbal and written)
  • Understanding of DOE models (experience preferred)
  • Familiarity with bioreactor systems (experience preferred)
  • Familiarity with development of stable cell lines (experience preferred)
